Metro StationFor those of you who live and/or work in Tyson's Corner, you'll probably start hearing jack hammers and weaving through orange cones starting March 2009 as the WMATA (Metrorail) is building a 23-mile extension of the Orange Line from East Falls Church to Ashburn.  Currently called the "Silver Line," the Dulles Metrorail Project will include 11 new stations throughout Tyson's Corner, Reston/Herdon, and Ashburn including the Washington Dulles International Airport.  Expected to cost approximately $5 billion, the first phase stretching from East Falls Church to Wiehle Avenue, Reston is to be completed by 2013.  The majority of the extension will be constructed in the median along the Dulles Toll Road hoping to minimize impacts on residential neighborhoods and the environment.  In addition to the added benefits for Western Fairfax and Loudoun County commuters and those catching a plane at Dulles Airport, the metrorail project is expected to bring new job opportunities and increased property values.  Unfortunately, we'll have to wait several years to reap the benefits.  Check out the new metrorail maps...
